Darlene Buchanan, Recreation Division Manager

staff-darlene-buchananDarlene joined the City of Florence Recreation Department as Division Manager in January 2012. She is responsible for the management and oversight of the department. Her goal is to ensure all citizens are provided with quality athletic programs that meet or exceed their expectations. Her office is located in the Administrative Offices of the Recreation Department located at 513 Barnes Street, Florence.

Rocky Rietkovich, Freedom Florence Complex Coordinator

Rocky ReitkovichRocky is a 32 year veteran of the City of Florence Recreation Department. He is responsible for the day to day operations of the Freedom Florence Recreational Complex where he oversees facility maintenance as well as baseball and softball tournaments. He is also responsible for the operations of the gymnastics center and batting cages. His office is located on the second floor of the Upper Tower at the Freedom Florence Recreational Complex.

Robert Hill, Director of Tennis

Robert Hill, a native of the Florence area, has been selected as the new Director of Tennis. Robert comes to us from the Country Club of South Carolina where he was the Director of Tennis and Recreation.  He worked at the CCSC for a total of 11 years.  He graduated from Francis Marion University in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance as well as a Bachelors in Mathematics.  While a student at FMU, Robert played collegiately for four years on the Men’s Tennis Team.   In his new role at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center, Robert will oversee administrative operations to include hiring highly qualified professionals to teach a variety of tennis instructional opportunities for the growing tennis community in Florence.  Robert, a USPTA certified professional, is also available to teach private lessons, clinics, camps and other activities.  His office is located on the second floor of the Tennis Center.

Tim Wilson, Athletic Director

Tim Wilson, Athletic Director, joined the City of Florence in September 2017. With the addition of Tim, the city gained substantial athletic experience in all phases of athletic programming. As a former collegiate basketball coach, Tim brings a fresh perspective to the administration of quality athletic programming that meets the needs of our citizens. As Athletic Director, he oversees youth and adult athletic programs. He is already immersed in the development of new programs and facilities that will continue to elevate the quality of life in our city and region. Tim’s office is located at the Recreation Department’s Administrative Offices, 513 Barnes Street, Florence.

Wes Woodward, Gymnastics Coordinator

Wes has nearly 20 years of Gymnastics coaching experience. He is responsible for the growth of the gymnastics program into one of the few community-based programs in the state that offers opportunities for instructional classes and team competition. Wes is in his first year as the Gymnastics Coordinator for the City of Florence. His office is located in the Gymnastics Center at Freedom Florence.
